Fitness Centers in Hamamatsu

Thinking of getting in shape after the winter binge eating?

You can always go out and start jogging around the numerous parks or along the rivers. But it's still chilly. Or, you can go to the nearest fitness gym and start sweating out the added weight.

If you live in Hamamatsu, below are some fitness centers I can recommend. Their monthly fees are almost the same, about 8,000 to 9,000 Yen. If you'll be using their facilities in off hours, they'd give you 1,000-2,000 Yen discount a month. All of them opens from around 10:00 am to 11:00 pm. Bring you Residence Card and Bank Book if you decide to join these fitness centers.

Just a tip, these fitness centers have regular membership promotions. They would sometimes have 0 Yen Membership for the first month. If you also know another person who would like to go to the gym, you can sign-up together and get a few discount in your monthly fees.

I've included the addresses so you can easily copy and paste them on Google Maps.

This fitness center is closest to Hamamatsu Station. It's a 10-minute walk from the South Side of the station. It has weight training facilities, a tennis court, a large pool, sauna, massage rooms and lounging areas. It also offers yoga, zumba and belly dancing. This is the gym that I go to so I can personally vouch for this place. Sala Sports has branches all over Japan and your membership is applicable to all their branches.

Last year, a Japanese friend invited me to participate in ''water yoga'' activity of Life Well. While sitting in a small boat, we were doing yoga poses. It was interesting and I would have enjoyed it if not for the fear of falling in the water. Earlier this year, I was again invited to a ''line walking'' activity. Basically, I have to walk on a rope that's about 2-3 inches off the ground. I thought it will be easy but it wasn't. It's great for developing balance.

So anyway, Life Well is also around Hamamatsu Station. It offers unconventional fitness activities like the water yoga and line walking. It also offer bouldering/ wall climbing, other kinds of yoga, surfing, and other outdoor exercises. Life Well has conventional facilities too if you're not up to their other activities.

3. Axtos

I haven't been here personally but I know a few people who goes to this gym. They're pretty satisfied with this place. They have the basic services of a gym including yoga and zumba classes. You can cycle or take a bus to Axtos from Hamamatsu Station.

Address; 350 Moritachō Naka-ku, Hamamatsu-shi, Shizuoka-ken 432-8048

4. Curves

This fitness center is especially made for women. Curves is originally from the US. The couple behind this center developed a 30-minute a day workout for women to keep them fit. There are 2 Curves centers I know in Hamamatsu. One is near the Hamamatsu Station and the other is near AEON Irino. Curves look smaller compared to the usual gyms. They have their own program so there might not be the usual fitness classes.

All of these fitness centers are around Hamamatsu Station. I'm sure there are other fitness centers in Hamamatsu, but so far these are the ones that I personally know.

If you know other fitness centers in Hamamatsu, feel free to write about them on the comment section,
